Standard One: Strategic Leadership
School executives will create conditions that result in strategically re-imaging the school’s vision, mission, and goals in the 21st century. Understanding that schools ideally prepare students for an unseen but not altogether unpredictable future, the leader creates a climate of inquiry that challenges the school community to continually re-purpose itself by building on its core values and beliefs about its preferred future and then developing a pathway to reach it.

This year, as a 4th Grade Level Chair, I am responsible for the 105 students, families, and 6 4th grade teachers. Due to being in graduate school and planning the elementary school, I began strategically developing and coaching one of my teachers to serve as an acting Grade Level Chair. This document reflects a reflection template I created for her to complete to capture what occurred while she was serving as acting GLC when I was out of the building. We used this conversation as a starting point for creating celebrations and priority focus areas.
